The Somerleyton Road vent shaft upgrade is part of the Cooling the Tube Programme upgrade of the entire mid tunnel ventilation shafts on London Underground Victoria Line. The project involved the removal of the existing ventilation system which had a capacity of 19m3/s with a single, and the installation a new ventilation system with a capacity 38m3/s using two fans operated in parallel.

VVB were appointed by Costain to project manage the M&E requirements of the contract from a RIBA Stage D design through installation, commissioning and asset handover of the finished project.

  • LUL ED Assurance
  • Management of Specialist

Throughout the design and preconstruction phase VVB provided technical knowledge and experience to all elements of the M&E systems and liaised with civil designers to produce a complete integrated solution.
