Battersea Power Station
Battersea Park station redevelopment involves the complete refurbishment of the existing
Victorian Station Buildings and Platforms. Battersea Park Station is located between Clapham Junction and London Victoria, and serves trains on the South London, Atlantic and Brighton Lines.

The train station development is part of the ongoing development of the Battersea Power station by developers Parkview and is seen as the main visitor access to the £1.3billion project. The redevelopment scheme is part of a design and build project between main contractor Costain, consultants Atkins and architects Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners.

VVB were appointed by Costain to project manage the M&E requirements of the contract from inception through installation, commissioning and delivery of the finished scheme. Scheme is currently at RIBA Stage E.

Our role included:

  • Liaison with consultants, local authorities, emergency services, Network Rail and the train operating companies
  • M&E Design Management and comment
  • Buildability
  • Value Engineering & Design amendments
  • Programme Planning & Construction sequencing
  • Compliance with Network Rail standards and Guidelines
  • Early Contractor Involvement (at tender stage)
  • Management of Specialist Subcontractors and Suppliers

Throughout the design and preconstruction phase VVB provided technical knowledge and experience to all elements of the M&E systems and liaised with civils to produce a complete turnkey solution.
