The Electrical works have comprised of the installation of the following equipment.


New containment consisting of galvanised steel tray and trunking was installed along the length of the new structure for LV, emergency lighting, fire alarm and data cables.


21 no 1200 twin Thorn Aqua enclosed fluorescent luminaires installed at high level and connected with pvc LSFOH single core conductors within 50mm x 50mm galvanised trunking and galvanised steel conduit.

Emergency lighting

16 no 110 volt slave emergency bulkhead lights have been installed with 4 no sustained EXIT lights above the doors

External lighting

There are 8 no 1200mm Thorn Aqua flourscent luminaires on the external area of the tunnel and these are connected to pvc LSFOH single core conductors.

Small power

This consists of 3 no Blakeley 110 volt transformers with 16amp outlets installed with adjacent 13 amp switched fuse connection units. 4 no 13 amp twin socket outlets have been
installed with LSfOH singles within galvanised steel trunking and tray.

Mechanical services

There have been 6 no Vent Axia Solo 100mm extractor fans installed to the external face of the tunnel and these are connected to a 60 minute run on timer that is activated by a manually operated retractive switch located at the lower entrance.

2 no motorised dampers have been installed of 800mm x 800mm and are controlled by a thermostat positioned at the top end of the airside tunnel.

Throughout the design and preconstruction phase VVB provided technical knowledge and experience to all elements of the M&E systems and liaised with Costain to produce a complete integrated solution.
